Madre de Louro

A phytocecidia that frequently appears on the trunks of old laurels. It can reach 20 centimeters in length and is produced by Exobasidium Lauri, a fungus of the Telephoraceae family. Associated with aguardente, it is a widely used hemostatic in Madeira, and is also used as a hemmenagogue.
