Andrade (D. Manuel Joaquim Gonçalves de)

This prelate of the diocese of S. Paulo (Brazil) was born in the parish of Campanário on March 14, 1767, the son of Nicolau Gonçalves de Andrade and Maria de Andrade. In October 1826, he was confirmed as the bishop of that diocese and was consecrated on October 28 of the following year. He passed away on May 26, 1847. We are unaware of any other circumstances of this prelate's life. He was the uncle of Counselor Francisco Justino Gonçalves de Andrade, whom we have already discussed here.
