The reefs or shoals that emerge near the coast or are found at shallow depths during low tide are generally known in Madeira by the name of 'Baixas'. It is worth mentioning the Aguagem, located south of the Ilhéu dos Desembarcadouros, near Ponta de São Lourenço, Atanásio, Badajeira, Barbeiros, Bispo, on the maritime coast of Câmara de Lobos, Carneiro, Cesto, near the coast of Jardim do Mar, Conceição, Cotrim, in Porto Santo, Furado or do Nariz, Galé, Galeão, Guincho, Junqueira, Larga, Leão, Marinheiros, Neta, Raiz, São Pedro, Três Irmãs, Machico, and Pôrto do Moniz (See these names).
