Macaulay (Dr. James)
A distinguished English scientist who spent part of the years 1839 and 1840 in Madeira, having written a valuable work about this island entitled Notes on the Physical Geography, Geology and Climate of the Island of Madeira, which was published in the Edinburgh New Philosophical Journal, in October 1840, pages 1 to 39. James Macaulay was the editor of the Stranger, a newspaper written in English and published in Funchal, of which only the first issue was released in January 1840.
