Livramento

A populated area in the parish of Caniço. It took its name from a chapel that once existed there, dedicated to Our Lady of Livramento, which was the center of a popular pilgrimage, now transferred to the Parish Church. The foundation of this chapel is attributed to Sebastião de Oliveira around the mid-17th century, who had land grants there.
