Leme (João da Câmara)
He was born in Funchal in the year 1865 and held the position of gatekeeper of the Civil Government. In this city, he published a volume of poetry in 1887, with 83 pages, entitled Amor e Pátria (Love and Homeland). Upon its release, it was asserted in the press that the booklet was a complete plagiarism, foraged from various Portuguese poets, particularly from Almeida Garrett.
