Alvino

This surname appeared among us with the arrival to this island of the licentiate Manuel Camilo de Melo e Alvino around the year 1500. Alvino is a corruption of Alvim, and this surname comes from Manuel Carrilho de Melo e Alvim (Saud. 846). The surname Alvim, which is ancient and noble, also exists in Portugal and in the Azores.
