He was a law graduate from the University of Coimbra, a member of the Society of Friends of Sciences and Arts, and was a lawyer in Funchal, where he was born, presumably around 1780. He was part of the first Constitutional Chamber of Funchal, and in 1822, he was elected as a substitute deputy to the ordinary courts for this island. He published a Poetic collection in the Patriota Funchalense, in a volume of 122 pages, and under the title of Parabéns poetico-politicos, an octave, eighteen sonnets, and an ode, in a booklet of 29 pages. He died in Funchal on February 14, 1825.
