Geography

Janela (Ribeira da)

It is the longest and most abundant watercourse in Madeira. It originates in Paul da Serra and, crossing the parish that bears the same name, flows into the ocean. A short distance from its mouth, there is an islet that also bears the same name. The well-known levadas of Rabaçal are largely fed by the springs of this stream, captured at its source. See Ribeira da Janela (Parish of).
