Peppermint (Mentha aquatica-viridis f. piperita) / Hortelã Pimenta (Mentha aquatica-viridis f. piperita)

A very aromatic labiate with a spicy flavor, glabrous or nearly glabrous, with lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, serrated leaves. It is widely cultivated in vegetable gardens, and the infusion of its leaves is useful for intestinal pain, colic, and spasmodic coughs. Peppermint essential oil is very caustic.
