Guinea Grass / Herva-da-Guiné

A forage grass, cultivated and naturalized in Funchal and Santa Cruz. It has tall, hairy stems at the nodes, and narrow, loose, elongated clusters; gathered in panicles. It is an ancient plant in the land, as it was found by Masson in 1776. Its scientific name is Panicum Maximum.
