Heineken (Dr. Carlos)

An English doctor who resided in Funchal for 9 years and died here on January 4, 1830. In an article published in vol. XII (1824) of the Medical Repository and in another written piece that appeared in the Rambles in Madeira, he recommends the climate of Funchal for the treatment of pulmonary diseases. During his residence on the island, he made many meteorological observations, which are of great value for the understanding of our climatology.
