Sunflower (Heliantus annuus) / Girassol (Heliantus annuus)

An annual plant widely cultivated in Madeira. Belonging to the Composite family, it is native to Peru and produces flower heads with a diameter of one to two decimeters. Its achenes are used as food for birds, and the leaves are eaten with pleasure by sheep and cows.
