Girard (Alberto A.)
A naturalist who accompanied the late King D. Carlos on many of his oceanographic explorations. He was a French citizen, but naturalized as Portuguese and had a degree in civil engineering obtained in Portugal. He was born in 1860 and passed away on September 2, 1914. He published 'Les Céphalopodes des Iles Açores et le l'Ile Madère' (Journal of Mathematical, Physical, and Natural Sciences, 1892). He also studied some fossil mollusks from the Madeira archipelago in the Extract of the communications of the Geological Works Commission, volume II, fascicle II.
