Garreta (Léon)

A young French naturalist who conducted a scientific exploration in the Selvagens in June 1911 and also visited Madeira, where he stayed for a few days. He was traveling on the small sloop Adolphe Marie, which almost foundered on its return to Europe.

Garreta met his death on the battlefields of France in 1914 or shortly thereafter.
