Garoupa (Serranus cabrilla)

A fish of the Percidae family, which inhabits the shallow rocky bottoms from the coast to a little beyond 100 fathoms. The briqueira is the apparatus generally used in its fishing.

In addition to being common, the garoupa is one of the finest fish in the seas of Madeira.
