Garajau (Sterna Hirundo)

A bird of the arid family, common in the seas of Madeira. It breeds on the rocks overlooking the sea, laying the three eggs of variable color and shape that make up its laying directly on the bare ground.

The garajau leaves these islands in October and November and returns in the early months of spring.
