Frias

The peak where the construction of the castle of S. João Baptista began in 1622, better known by the name of fortaleza do Pico, was and still is called Pico dos Frias, given by Romeu Frias, of Italian nationality, who lived there and had sesmaria lands, having been one of the oldest settlers of this island.
