Freira
In Madeira, the Brama raii, a pelagic fish, and the Ostrellata mollis, a marine procellarid petrel indigenous to the archipelago, are known by this name. The Brama raii is used for consumption, but its meat is of poor quality; the Ostrellata mollis is a rare species, known to nest in the mountains near Curral das Freiras and on the maritime rocks of the Desertas, where it has been observed in the summer and autumn months.
