Fonte Arcada (Pedro Joaquim de Magalhães 1st Viscount of) / Fonte Arcada (Pedro Joaquim de Magalhãis Iº visconde de)

He was a distinguished military man and married D. Luíza da Silva in this island, daughter of Manuel Dias de Andrade, who was the administrator of the Andrades estate. Fonte Arcada, who died in 1688, inherited this entailed estate. One of his descendants, Francisco Joaquim de Magalhães, 4th Viscount of Fonte Arcada, a distinguished diplomat and peer of the realm, administered this important entailed estate and visited his properties on the island in 1865, contributing to one of the newspapers in Funchal. One of his descendants and heirs sold all the properties he owned in Madeira about twenty years ago.
