Abreu (João de)
Gaspar Correia, in the Lendas da Índia, refers to the Madeiran João de Abreu, who arrived at the bar of Goa in September 1513 in the fleet under the command of João de Sousa Lima, and who, in the lands of the East, distinguished himself in various encounters with the Indians, leaving an illustrious name in the annals of our overseas struggles.
