Fasciation / Fasciação

A teratological phenomenon characterized by the adhesion and flattening of the stems or branches of a plant. Fasciation is frequently observed in Echium plantagineum from Porto Santo, and in specimens of Euphorbia exígua that grow between Machico and Água de Pena, and has also been noted in the vineyard, pumpkin plants, etc.
