Faria (José Cupertino de)

He was born in Funchal around 1866 and is the son of Manuel de Faria and D. Maria Isabel Fernandes de Faria. He attended the seminary of this diocese, but did not complete the preparatory course, later enlisting in the army. He left this island a long time ago and lived for many years in the city of Setúbal. It was there that in 1901 he published a 202-page volume entitled O Arquipelago da Madeira, which contains many errors and inaccuracies.
