Cunha (Bartolomeu de Vasconcelos da)

Appointed governor and captain general of Madeira on August 21, 1651, taking office on October 16 of the same year. Barbosa Machado says that he wrote several sonnets on the birth of Infante D. Pedro, the death of D. Maria de Ataíde, and Manuel de Galhegos. He is the father of the distinguished poet and writer Troilo de Vasconcelos da Cunha, who was born in Funchal in 1654.
