Cruz (Ponta da)

A little east of Praia Formosa and west of Ilhéu do Gorgulho on the coast of the parish of São Martinho, lies the so-called Ponta da Cruz, which is considered by many to be the westernmost point of Funchal's bay. There used to be a small fort there, now dismantled. In its vicinity, there is an important fish canning factory.
