A small bird of the Antida family, which frequents open places on all the islands of the archipelago. It is not a migratory bird, with a distribution area limited to the islands of the Macaronesian Sea (Azores, Madeira, Selvagens, and Canaries). It nests on the ground from February to August, usually laying four gray eggs with irregular dark spots.
