Seixas

Short entry on the Seixas family in Madeira, beginning with José de Seixas, Spanish consul in 1686, whose widow founded the chapel of Nossa Senhora do Amparo.

The first person of this surname of whom there is any record was José de Seixas, who married Dona Luísa de Mendonça. She outlived him and founded the chapel of Our Lady of Protection (Nossa Senhora do Amparo). This José de Seixas was Spanish consul in 1686.
