Saldanha (Fernão)

Fernão Saldanha was Governor General of Madeira from 1625 until his death on the island in 1626, after which Bishop D. Jerónimo Fernando took over the government.

This Governor-General of Madeira was appointed on 10 January 1625 and took office on 11 April of the same year. He died on this island on 10 August 1626, while serving here as Governor. On his death, Bishop Dom Jerónimo Fernando took over the duties of Governor.
