Rocha (Joaquim Leonardo da)
Portuguese portrait painter (born 1756) who worked and died in Funchal after 1821, son of painter Manuel Joaquim da Rocha.
We have already dealt with this painter in the article on the António Augusto de Aguiar Industrial School (volume I, page 398). It should be added here that he was born in Portugal in 1756 and died in Funchal some time after 1821, and that he was the son of the distinguished painter Manuel Joaquim da Rocha. He was above all a portraitist and left several canvases on this island.
