Italian plant pathologist who visited Funchal in March 1922 to collect a parasitic wasp for biological control of a citrus scale insect, and published several papers on the mission.

Paoli (Dr Guido)

He is inspector of plant diseases and director of the Regional Phytopathological Observatory of Liguria (Observatorio Regional de Fitopatologia da Liguria). He was in Funchal from 6 to 17 March 1922, commissioned by the Italian government to study and collect Aspidiotiphagus lounsburyi, a small hymenopteran that parasitises Chrysomphalus dictyospermi, a limpet or scale insect that lives on various plant species and has caused great devastation in the orange groves of Italy. Works:

In all these publications Dr Paoli refers to what he saw and studied during his short stay in Funchal.
