The strawberry plant, wild and cultivated in Madeira; garden strawberries are large, mountain ones small but tasty, and its runners are used in infusion against jaundice.

A member of the rose family (Rosaceae), growing wild and cultivated in Madeira. The strawberries produced in kitchen gardens are large and highly prized; those from the mountains are small but tasty. The stoloniferous rhizomes of the strawberry plant are used in infusion against jaundice.
