Mondragão

The Mondragão family, apparently extinct in Madeira, descended from João Rodrigues Mondragão, a Biscayan noble who settled around 1500 and founded an entail at Calheta.

This family surname, which we suppose to be extinct in Madeira, came from João Rodrigues Mondragão, a Biscayan nobleman who settled in Madeira around 1500 and founded an entail (morgado) in the town (vila) of Calheta (‘small cove’).
