Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle: vernacular name for Lonicera species in Madeira, one naturalised and others grown in gardens.

Common name of Lonicera etrusca, native to the Mediterranean region, and of L. confusa, native to China and Japan, plants common in Madeira and belonging to the family Caprifoliaceae. The first of these plants is fully naturalised on the island; the second occurs only in gardens. L. longiflora is a large-flowered honeysuckle grown in some gardens in Funchal.
