Leal (Sebastião Frederico Rodrigues)

Madeiran lawyer and magistrate who sat in parliament for Madeira in 1857–58 and edited the newspaper O Funchalense.

This Madeiran held a law degree and followed a career in the magistracy, serving as deputy crown prosecutor in one of the judicial districts of Funchal. He represented Madeira in parliament in the legislative session of 1857 to 1858 and was editor of the newspaper O Funchalense (‘The Funchal Citizen’), which was published in this city from 1859 to 1861.

On the island of Graciosa, a pamphlet of 58 pp. was published in 1866 under the following title: Abusos d'autoridade praticados na ilha Graciosa pelo juiz de direito Sebastião Rodrigues Leal.
