Junquilho

Explains the vernacular name 'junquilho', applied in Madeira to certain Narcissus species (Amaryllidaceae) and in Porto Santo to the sedge Cyperus laevigatus (Cyperaceae).

Madeirans give the name junquilhos to certain species of the genus Narcissus, of the family Amaryllidaceae, whereas on Porto Santo (‘holy harbour’) it is Cyperus laevigatus, of the family Cyperaceae, that bears that name.
