Gomes Leal
Note on the Portuguese poet Gomes Leal, who lived for a time in Funchal while his father worked at the customs house there.
This distinguished poet lived in Funchal for some time, when his father was an official at the customs house of this city. The Diario da Madeira of 7 July 1923 published an interesting letter by Gomes Leal, written in Madeira and addressed to Albano Coutinho, dated 25 April 1868, in which he refers to various Madeiran matters.
