Franco de Castro (Alfredo César)
Author of the 1865 novel Julia ou Recordações da Ilha da Madeira, set on the island where he stayed for his health.
We know nothing of his circumstances, and know only that in 1865 he published in Lisbon a volume of 144 pp. entitled Julia ou Recordações da Ilha da Madeira. It is a novel dedicated to Vasco Tristão da Câmara, whose plot is set on this island, where the author spent some months for reasons of health. It contains descriptions of several buildings in Funchal and deals briefly with some points of the history of this archipelago.
