Ferreira (Nicolau)
Original title: Ferreira ( Nicolau)
Short entry on Nicolau Ferreira, a painter whose signed canvases survive in several churches of the diocese of Funchal. Nothing is known of his life, but the paintings were probably made on Madeira in the late 17th century.
Several canvases bearing the signature of the painter Nicolau Ferreira can be found in some churches of this diocese, but we have been unable to find any information about him. We have reason to believe that these paintings were made on this island and that they date from the end of the 17th century.
