Feijoa
Madeiran name for the runner bean (Phaseolus multiflorus), of tropical American origin, grown chiefly at Monte and Camacha.
Madeiran vernacular name for Phaseolus multiflorus, a legume native to tropical America. The feijoa is grown chiefly at Monte (‘hill’) and Camacha, where its roots are said to last 7 years. Its seeds are 20 to 30 millimetres long by 12 to 16 wide, and its pods are downy, especially when young, and sickle-shaped or slightly curved.
