Echo de Santa Cruz
Echo de Santa Cruz, printed in Santa Cruz from 1877, was the first Madeiran newspaper published outside Funchal.
The first issue appeared on 24 September 1877 and issue no. 14 on 30 March 1878. It was typeset and printed in the town (vila) of Santa Cruz (‘Holy Cross’) and was the first newspaper in Madeira to be published outside the capital of the district.
