Original title: Craveiro. (Dianthus Caryophyllus)
The carnation, widely cultivated in Madeiran gardens, with a note on the wild Dianthus prolifer.
A plant of the family Caryophyllaceae, widely cultivated in Madeiran gardens, of which there are many varieties. In dry places at Câmara de Lobos (‘seals’ den’) and in Funchal, Dianthus prolifer is not uncommon; it is a wild plant whose flowers look rather like small carnations.
