Carocha (Blaps gages)

Darkling beetle Blaps gages, common in Madeira, Porto Santo and the Selvagens.

A coleopteran insect of the family Tentyriidae, common on Madeira, Porto Santo and the Savage Islands (Selvagens). It lives in the dark corners of houses, under stones and in caves, especially in the lower zone (coastal belt) of the first two islands.

Carocha is often used as a general name for certain beetles of a particular shape.
