Cinnamon tree (Cinnamomum zeylanicun)

The cinnamon tree is widely grown as an ornamental and shade tree in Madeiran gardens, though its bark there has no commercial value.

A tree of the laurel family (Lauraceae), widely grown in the quintas and gardens of Madeira. It is highly ornamental and a good evergreen shade tree, but its bark has little aroma and no commercial value whatsoever. On the island we have seen only the Cassia variety.
