A former Madeiran unit of land area equal to 30 square metres, thirty of which made an alqueire of land in much of the island.

A unit of area formerly used in Madeira, equal to 30 square metres. In many parts of the island an alqueire (dry measure for grain; as a land measure c. 900 m²) of land is 30 canas, or 900 square metres, but in Funchal it is only 756,225 square metres.
