Frei Pedro de Bettencourt was a sixteenth-century Madeiran Franciscan friar who went to India and founded a convent of Franciscan nuns there.
He belonged to the Bettencourt family of this island, where he was born around the middle of the 16th century. He entered the Seraphic Order of St Francis, taking the name of Friar Pedro de São Bartolomeu. He went to India, where he founded a convent of nuns of his order. He is discussed in the Historia Seraphica of Friar Manuel da Esperança.
