Baraço

Madeiran term for a cutting of any plant of the gourd family, taken from the parent plant for propagation.

This is the name given in Madeira to a cutting of any plant of the family Cucurbitaceae. A baraço (stem cutting of a cucurbit used for propagation) of a pumpkin plant, for example, is a shoot cut from the parent plant for the propagation of the species.
