The holm oak is cultivated in some quintas around Funchal. It can be told apart from the cork oak because its trunk has no cork.

This tree is cultivated in some quintas on the outskirts of Funchal. It is easily distinguished from the cork oak, which it resembles, by its trunk, which has no cork.
