Italian ryegrass is a European grass introduced to Madeira in the late 18th century. It soon became naturalised across most of the island and makes good fodder.

A European grass introduced to Madeira in the last quarter of the 18th century, which quickly became naturalised over almost the whole island. It is a good fodder plant.
