Surname first recorded in Madeira through a Basque, João Martins de Aldromar, living in Câmara de Lobos in 1500; apparently now extinct.
The Basque João Martins de Aldromar, who was living in the parish (freguesia) of Câmara de Lobos (‘seals’ den’) in 1500, is the first person recorded as having borne this surname in Madeira. It seems to us that the surname is now extinct in this archipelago.
